Postdoctoral Associate Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: BA Shandong University; PhD University of Science and Technology of China

Research Areas: Experimental Fluid Mechanics; Nonlinear Instability; Turbulence

Yu Liang is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Research Centre on Stability, Instability, and Turbulence. He obtained a Doctoral degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2020 and a Batchelor degree from Shandong University in 2015.

Yu Liang has been studying on the Richtmyer-Meshkov (RM) instability, Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) instability and shock-droplet interaction during his PhD study. For RM and RT instabilities, he focuses on the mode-competition, bubble-merging, interface-coupling and 3D effects on the interfacial instability. For shock-droplet interaction, he performed the first experimental study on the shock-induced deformation of a droplet embedded with a vapour cavity.

Yu Liang is devoted to establishing the first experimental fluid mechanics laboratory in NYUAD. He is investigating RT instability and the related turbulence, 1D and 2D Couette flow, Salt finger instability, Rayleigh-Benard flow and biofluid experiments in the new lab.
