Research Areas: Climate variability, modeling, and data analysis

Ajaya is a climate scientist interested in climate variability, modeling, and data analysis. After completing graduate degrees in Applied Physics and Atmospheric Science, Ajaya earned his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on the impact of low-frequency variability in the tropics. He continued at IISc as a postdoctoral fellow for one year, then moved to Florida State University, USA, for two additional years of postdoctoral research.

Ajaya spent two years as a researcher at Japan's JAMSTEC, working on climate variability. From 2007-2012, he worked as a research associate at Environment Canada's Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling & Analysis on the University of Victoria campus. He also worked as a scientific data specialist at Neptune Canada ocean observatory for a brief period. Currently, he is working as a senior scientist at CPCM, NYU Abu Dhabi, on tropical convection and monsoon variability. He is an editorial board member of Scientific Reports-Nature.
