Since 2016, he has been with New York University Abu Dhabi. Sohmyung Ha is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi. He received an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

From 2006 to 2010, he worked as an analog and mixed-signal circuit designer at Samsung Electronics, Yongin, Korea, where he was a part of the engineering team responsible for several of the world best-selling multimedia devices, smartphones, and TVs.

After an extended career in industry, he returned to academia as a Fulbright Scholar, and obtained the MS and PhD degrees with the best PhD thesis award for biomedical engineering from the Department of Bioengineering, University of California San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA, in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
