Amos Katz serves as Senior Lecturer of Film and New Media at New York University Abu Dhabi. He holds an MD from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, an MFA in Film from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, and a BA in Art History from Vassar College.
Through his courses, Katz explores how evolving technologies shape society while conducting research in mass communications, AI, branding, behavioral economics, architectural psychology, healthcare ethics, pedagogy, and technology's impact on human behavior. He leads the Cambodian Family History Project, documenting a multi-generational story of genocide survival and immigration, and he collaborated with Etihad Aviation Training on a project about high-stakes decision-making. His pedagogic research has been published in Diversity & Equality in Health and Care Journal and Arts Social Science Journal, that focused on using film for bioethics education.
Prior to his current role, Katz served as Associate Director of Production at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia in Singapore and was in a residency in General Surgery at Temple University Hospital. His creative work has garnered several honors, including the New York University Abu Dhabi Saadiyat Fellowship, the Tirana International Film Festival Audience Award, and multiple awards at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts First Run Film Festival. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received departmental honors in both Surgery and Art History during his academic career.
