Asma Eskhan holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University. She works with Prof. Daniel Johnson at the NYUAD Water Research Center. Her research focuses on understanding the surface interactions between surfaces (such as water membranes) and bio-foulants (such as microorganisms, macromolecules, biofilm slime). This knowledge can be useful to minimize the initial attachment of bio-foulants prior to biofouling and to develop surfaces with high resistance to biofouling.

Current Research

Characterizing the interaction forces between surfaces and bio-foulants to understand the underlying mechanisms and develop surfaces with high repellency to bio-foulants.
