MSc in Meteorology from Cochin University of Science and Technology
PhD in Meteorology from the Indian Institute of Technology
Sandeep's academic interests relate to climate modelling, the Indian monsoon and analysis of climate extremes. Sandeep received his MSc in Meteorology from Cochin University of Science and Technology, India in 2004 and his PhD in Meteorology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2006.
He has previously held positions as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, Norway and as a Research Associate, Center for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The main focus of his research is to understand the changes in Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) using Coupled General Circulation Models. He uses data from the fifth phase of Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project (CMIP5) and also perform sensitivity experiments to explore the future variability in ISM circulation and precipitation. In addition, he has done extensive analysis of observational (satellite and conventional) data to better understand the processes and variability of ISM.
