Tim Kahs was born in Lower Saxony in Germany. He received his B.S. (2009) in Geosciences at the University of Bremen and an MSc in Marine Geosciences in 2012 at the University of Bremen. He wrote his Master Thesis in a joint effort between the University of Bremen and Shell. During this work, he investigated the relationship between the polar molecular composition of crude oils and their corresponding recovery behavior during Low Salinity Waterflooding core flooding experiments. In 2012, he joined Shell Global Solutions in the Netherlands and worked on interface phenomena in oil/water systems by applying surface chemistry as well as high-resolution mass spectrometry (FT-ICR-MS) techniques. His research interests include the linkage of the molecular properties of crude oils and their physical behavior in subsurface production equipment as well as reservoir formations.
