Raghuvanshi Rajesh graduated with a B.Tech in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of
Technology, India, in 2019. During his undergraduate years, he worked in several research
institutions based in Bangalore, including the National Centre for Biological Sciences
(NCBS) and the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (InStem), gaining
essential laboratory experience in the broad areas of microbiology, molecular biology,
immunology, and genomics. For his bachelor’s dissertation, he worked on investigating the
regulation of Drosophila larval immune pathways in response to a high sucrose diet. His
experiments yielded important insights into the broad field of immune-metabolic interactions.

As his core research interest lies in the field of developmental neurobiology, he joined the
Centre for Neuroscience at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as a project assistant,
investigating molecular mechanisms that regulate reactive astrogliosis in the murine brain,
and its implications on Parkinson's disease progression. At IISc, he honed his skills in the
handling of mice, molecular cloning, and designing lentiviral-based CRISPR constructs.

He aspires to pursue his graduate studies; understanding the unifying principles of
vertebrate and invertebrate nervous system development.
