Research Areas: water treatment, desalination, ceramic membranes

Shaheen Anis is a postdoctoral fellow, working at the Water Research Center NYUAD. She graduated with a PhD. from the Khalifa University of Science and Technology in 2018 during which she developed novel hydrocracking nanofibers for petroleum refining. Since her appointment at the WRC, Shaheen's focus has been on advancing the membrane technology for inorganic-based membranes. She is currently working on the development of ceramic membranes was water treatment and desalination where she is addressing critical issues such as salt recovery from dye wastewater, fabrication of flexible ceramic membranes, and fouling prevention of electrically conductive ceramic membranes.

Current Research

Shaheen is currently working on the development and testing of electrically conductive ceramic ultrafiltration and nanofiltration membranes to mitigate fouling during wastewater treatment. A part of her research is also focused on exploring functional nanomaterial applications in water treatment.
