Postdoctoral Associate Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: Master of Education
Postdoctoral researcher Heli joined the Teaching, Learning and Development Lab in January 2018. Heli’s background is at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, where she majored in education. Her doctoral thesis focused on the different qualities of educational dialogue and how the quality is associated with students’ learning in preschool and primary school classrooms.
Heli’s main research interest is in classroom interactions, especially in educational classroom dialogue. Methodologically Heli is specialized in qualitative and mixed-methods research and she is interested to look at new mixed research methods to capture both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of effective classroom interactions. As working in the Teachers’ Stress Study (TESS) she is also interested in teachers’ gaze behavior and its relation to the quality of teacher-child interactions and teacher stress.
