David Nelson

Senior Research Scientist Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: BA Colorado College; PhD University of Minnesota

Research Areas: Genomics; Molecular Biology; Bioinformatics

David attended Colorado College in CO, USA to obtain his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. As an undergraduate, he obtained funds from the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for studies in plant molecular biology and physiology. David later completed a PhD in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology and Genetics at the University of Minnesota. His PhD thesis produced the first draft genome of an eicosapentaenoic acid-producing yellow-green alga that can be cultured in near-freezing conditions.
