Faisal T Thayyullathil
Research Scientist

Education: MSc in Biotechnology, Periyar University; PhD, Acharya Nagarjuna
After receiving his master degree in Biotechnology from Periyar University (India), Faisal moved to UAE University College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) where he completed his PhD degree from the Acharya Nagarjuna University (India), under the supervision of Professor Sehamuddin Galadari at the Cell Signaling Laboratory (CMHS). Following his PhD, Faisal continued as a postdoctoral researcher in the Cell Signaling Laboratory, working on a number of signaling projects, but mainly focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of prostate apoptosis response-4 (a tumor suppressor protein that selectively kill cancer cells). As a research scientist at NYU Abu Dhabi, Faisal is currently investigating the role of prostate apoptosis response-4 in autophagy-mediated tumor suppression.
