Education: BSc (Honours), Chemistry, University of Aberdeen; PgDip, Information Technology (Medical Physics); University of Aberdeen; MSc, Drug Chemistry, University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne; PhD, Medicinal Chemistry, University of Dundee.
Shahienaz Hampton graduated with a B.Sc. (Honours) in chemistry from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland before moving to work for Huntingdon Life Sciences, Cambridgeshire, UK, primarily in the area of environmental metabolism. She carried out ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion) studies to evaluate the metabolism and environmental fate of isotopically-labeled compounds and reference substances. Returning to complete an M.Sc. in drug chemistry (with Distinction) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne UK, Shahienaz then received a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from the University of Dundee, Scotland. Working as a postdoctoral associate within the Division of Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery, she focused on the design, synthesis, and optimization of compounds targeted toward parasitic diseases such as malaria, chagas disease, and African trypanosomiasis. Shahienaz joined the Dore laboratory as a postdoctoral associate in 2012, and in 2015 was promoted to Research Scientist and Laboratory Manager.
