Zhiqin Xu is a postdoc associate in New York University in Abu Dhabi since 2016. He regularly visits Courant Institute in New York at the fall semester since 2015.
Zhiqin completed his PhD and undergraduate studies at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests lie in the area of computational neuroscience, ranging from theoretical study and simulation to data analysis. He has collaborated actively with theoretical and experimental neuroscientists. More specifically, his works focus on the understanding the mechanism underlying the application of Maximum Entropy Principle (MEP) in biological systems and developing methods in analyzing high dimensional neuronal data. He also studies the theory and application of Granger causality in neuroscience. He has published papers on several journals including Physical Review Letters, PLoS ONE and Communications in Mathematical Sciences.
Zhiqin has served as a reviewer for Scientific Reports. Selected honors include Meritourious Award in The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (2010), President’s Award (2011) and Outstanding Graduate Award (2012) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
