The NYUAD Office of Compliance and Risk Management (OCRM) assists NYUAD, as an international center of scholarship, teaching and research, to carry out its academic mission with integrity and in accordance with the University’s legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities.
To promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and ethics at NYUAD through coordinating and facilitating compliance and risk management activities and providing services that project a positive attitude towards compliance, ethics, and risk management.
NYUAD OCRM oversees and facilitates NYUAD’s Compliance and Risk, which is a component of the NYU Global Compliance and Risk Program and is composed of five essential elements:
A risk based approach to assess and prioritize the University’s global compliance risks and to mitigate them;
A University-wide Compliance and Risk Structure with oversight by the Audit and Compliance Committee of the NYU Board of Trustees and the NYUAD Audit Committee;
University Policies and Guidelines;
Communication, Education and Training; and
Annual and Periodic Monitoring of Top Institutional Risks.
NYUAD OCRM provides a range of Compliance and Risk Management Services to the University community aligned with and implementing these elements.
As members of the NYUAD community, we are individually responsible for compliance with the regulations and policies that apply to our substantive areas of responsibility. At an institutional level, NYUAD has compliance obligations in addition to ensuring that individual compliance obligations are met. While substantive responsibility for compliance and ethics is decentralized, NYUAD OCRM, led by the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, centrally develops, coordinates, implements and manages the Compliance and Risk Management Program at NYUAD.
In addition, working in close collaboration with the NYU Global Office of Compliance and Risk Management, NYUAD OCRM has substantive responsibility for the following areas:
import and export compliance;
youth programs compliance;
conflicts of interest;
concerns and complaints about noncompliance with the Code of Ethical Conduct and other University policies;
investigations into violations of University policies and compliance complaints;
the Compliance and Risk Reporting Line
