About the Award
The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Award, presented by New York University Abu Dhabi and in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), has been established to nurture artistic talent in the United Arab Emirates. It is produced in collaboration with the NYUAD Art Gallery.
The Award is given for the proposal and creation of an artwork that, in the spirit of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work, can be publicly exhibited and enjoyed.
Entrants may select any media with which to work including, but not limited to, photography, sculpture, installation, land art, and video. They are encouraged to think creatively about how to exhibit their work.
To apply, all entrants need to complete an application form, which includes a proposed budget. After an unveiling in Abu Dhabi in APRIL 2017, the work will tour the UAE.
The winning artist will directly receive $5000 to enable the production of the new work.
At the end of their exhibition, the artist will then be gifted $10,000 by Christo himself to fund future artistic projects, study and/ or work experience.
