Please note, material is only available to NYUAD Faculty
NYU Abu Dhabi has recruited a cohort of faculty who are at once distinguished in their research and teaching. Our students are drawn from around the world and surpass all traditional recruitment benchmarks, both US and global.
NYU Abu Dhabi’s highly selective liberal arts enterprise is complemented by an institute for advanced research, sponsoring cutting-edge projects across the arts and humanities, engineering, science, and social science.
To help facilitate advancement we offer the following programing throughout the year.
Faculty excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service is a core value of NYUAD. To enhance the capacity of our faculty in these areas, the NYUAD Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity provides the Summer Scholar Awards. This is an annual award offered to NYUAD standing faculty for development of leadership, productivity or teaching related skills by participation in high impact programs organized outside of the NYU Global Network to both enhance leadership skills and provide networking opportunities. This program is open to all with a standing faculty appointment at NYUAD. Applications are due each January.
These informal sessions offered at the start of each semester provide a wonderful opportunity to exchange information and ideas with members of the NYUAD Leadership.
These sessions offered throughout the academic year, provide an opportunity to exchange information and ideas on how to advance career development, inclusion and diversity of our faculty. Faculty who want to share thoughts and ideas one-to-one can sign-up for an individual meeting slot as advertised each semester in the Faculty Gazette and on the intranet.
Food for Thought in Faculty Advancement
This monthly lunchtime series is geared for faculty members. The topics are related to career development and the interactive sessions are intended to provide information, skills, and guidance on a range of issues that impact faculty career advancement. Sessions also provide an opportunity for faculty to engage with campus leadership, administrators, and peers on topics relevant to thriving as a faculty member at NYUAD.
We have launched a series of Virtual Workshops to accommodate remote working. The first of this series “Publishing and Article: The Editor’s Viewpoint” was released in April, 2020. Additional virtual workshops will be offered throughout the year.

Teaching statements are important data points that help you evidence your impactful teaching. This session will guide you on articulating your teaching philosophy as well as strategies to evidence its enactment in course design, pedagogy, and teaching methods. We will reflect together on our teaching practices and how they evolved over semesters. What innovations have we made in our courses? To what extent have we embraced experiential learning? How did we incorporate our research into teaching? The focus will be on providing evidence of the many ways in which you have reached your learners. We will go over a suggested list of topics to include in your statement and help you tailor it to the needs of your respective committee chairs.
