Program Structure

The Master of Science in Economics is a rigorous program that prepares students for careers in both academia and policy making. First semester topics include:

  • microeconomics
  • macroeconomics
  • statistics
  • analysis

In addition, students are encouraged to learn computer programming — a skill in ever increasing demand — during an intensive course in January.

In the second semester,  students will choose either an empirical or a theoretical course in econometrics, and pick three electives out of a selection of theoretical and applied courses.

Research

Students in the Master of Science in Economics program get the opportunity to work with top faculty who are leading significant research in multidisciplinary centers and labs. NYU Abu Dhabi's economics program recently ranked fifth in Asia in research output.

Center for Interacting Urban Networks

The Center for the Interacting Urban Networks has been established at NYU Abu Dhabi to develop fundamental research that can be translated into pragmatic ideas for increasing the livability of our cities.

Center for Technology and Economic Development

CTED houses several research projects that aim to tackle a wide range of developmental problems across five areas including food and water, healthcare, financial access, energy, and education.

Social Science Experimental Laboratory

Our aim is to create mutually beneficial relationships with local universities, organizations, and the wider community by offering their members a useful opportunity to participate in social science research activities.
