Çağlayan Başer is an Instructor of Political Science at New York University Abu Dhabi. She received his PhD in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago and her BA in International Relations from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.

Her research focuses on the links between domestic and international politics, political violence, and gender politics. She is currently working on a book manuscript titled "Public Preferences, Gender, and Foreign Support for Armed Movements", which is under contract with Cambridge University Press. Her research is published in World Politics and Security Studies, and has been funded by the American Political Science Association's MENA Section and Centennial Center, as well as NYUAD's Office of Provost.
