Regien graduated Cum Laude for her Msc. degree within the School of Economics and Management at Tilburg University on the topic of Corporate venture capital and real option valuation. In December 2014, Regien completed her PhD in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing (ITEM) group of the school of Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands). Her work has been published in numerous renowned international journals and conference proceedings.

Her areas of specialization are innovation in inter-organizational relationships. She is broadly interested in how formal and informal governance mechanisms influence innovative capabilities in inter-organizational relationships such as JVs, alliances and transactional relationships. Regien is a Strategy Consultant at Arthur D. Little in the UAE where she supports global and regional companies on various strategic, operational and transformational topics. Prior to that, she held several positions in the investment banking sector at ING Bank N.V. in Amsterdam and Singapore.
