Çağlayan Başer is an Instructor of Social Science at NYUAD. She holds a B.A. from the Middle East Technical University, an M.A from Istanbul Bilgi University, and a Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago.
Başer's research focuses on political violence, gender politics, and domestic sources of international relations. Her current projects examine how gendered dynamics shape the strategies of violence in civil wars. Her research is published in World Politics and is funded by American Political Science Association.
Prior to joining NYUAD, Başer taught courses on international relations, gender and security, racial and ethnic politics, and social justice at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Loyola University Chicago.
