Prof. Dr. Adam Krzymowski participated in the most significant strategic processes concerning Poland's foreign and security policies that adapted Poland to EU and NATO membership requirements. He was a member of teams working on new programs concerning the non-military defense system, and a team appointed by the Prime Minister of Poland, which developed the national strategy concerning these matters.
From 1999 to 2008, Professor Krzymowski worked in the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the most important institution in Poland’s central government, focused on topics related to Poland’s accession to the European Union. In 2008, he represented his country in the first governmental-parliamentary delegation to the European Space Agency in Paris, leading to the formal approval of Poland to join that organization.
From 2008 to 2011 Prof. Dr. Krzymowski as a Counselor to the Prime Minister worked in Poland’s Prime Minister’s Office, responsible for monitoring global processes, managing international dialogue, monitoring and advising on EU policies and on the Middle East. From February 2011 to August 2015, he was the Ambassador of Poland in the UAE. During his tenure in this post, Poland's trade exchange with the UAE increased from USD 316 million to 1.3 billion. Fourteen new agreements were signed (up to 2011 there had been only four such agreements), transforming the Poland-UAE bilateral relationship from a low level to a strategic level for both countries.
Professor Krzymowski represented Poland at the International Renewable Energy Agency. During the second half of 2011, he was the EU Representative in the UAE. In the same year, he participated in the EU-GCC Joint Council, in related ministerial-level meetings, and in the International Contact Group for Libya. In 2012, he headed the Polish delegation to the first meeting of the International Working Group on Economic Recovery and Development of the Friends of the Syrian People. In the same year, he participated in the meeting of the International Contact Group on Afghanistan. In 2013, he was the head of the Polish delegation at the Leading Edge meeting, a part of the Proliferation Security Initiative. In 2014, he represented Poland at the International Conference on Countering Piracy. In 2015, he was the head of Polish delegation at the International Contact Group on Afghanistan.
When his Ambassador’s mission terminated, he was conducting research for several months at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research. In early 2016, Prof. Dr. Krzymowski assumed the post-Senior Advisor to the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation responsible for Expo 2020 Dubai, assisting in developing economic and political relations as well as presenting strategies and analyses on bilateral and multilateral relations.
From the start of his career, Prof. Dr. Krzymowski has combined his academic practice with work in government administration and diplomacy. As Professor, he has been delivering lectures at various universities including Paris-Sorbonne University and New York University in Abu Dhabi. Prof. Dr. Krzymowski is also a prolific author of scholarly publications on a variety of contemporary topics related to regional and global security policy issues.
