Senior Lecturer of Civil and Environmental Engineering Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: PhD, New York University
Research Areas: cementitious materials, environmental chemistry, materials sensing and characterization
Engui is a materials and civil engineer. He became a member of NYUAD in Fall 2013 and teaches courses in the areas of materials and environment. Prior to this, he worked as a research fellow in the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering of New York University.
Engui began his career at Changzhou University (China), where he worked as a materials chemist. He did his graduate work at Tongji University (China) on polymeric-cementitious composite materials for civil engineering, and at New York University with his doctoral research in optical imaging of chemical degradation in infrastructure materials.
Engui’s research interests focus on the advanced materials and technologies for sustainable infrastructure and environmental developments. The research is aimed at:
- Designing of high-performance cementitious materials with novel functionalities, smartness, and greenness;
- Multi-scale understanding of the performance and aging of materials and structures, and;
- Developing methodologies for materials health diagnostics and environmental conditions monitoring.
