Green Workplace Certification
NYU's Green Workplace Certification is a self-reporting program for administrators to receive recognition for improving the sustainability of their workplaces. The Office of Sustainability guides administrators through the process and provides certification materials.
The Green Workplace Certification Checklist outlines a range of operational actions across key areas, including:
- electronics and equipment
- purchasing
- food and pantry set-up
- waste management
- travel and transportation
- conference attendance
- remote work
Each action is assigned a point value based on its environmental impact and ease of implementation. This allows workplaces to track progress and achieve certification through cumulative efforts.
Certified Platinum Green Workplace Offices
The Office of Sustainability reviews submissions and awards a score of Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum to the workplace. Certification lasts for two years.
