Applications will be welcomed in fall 2019 from tenured/tenure-track NYU faculty in New York who wish to spend Spring 2020 in residence at 19 Washington Square North.
The 19 WSN Faculty Fellowship Program aims to foster and strengthen connections between NYU faculty in New York and Abu Dhabi, as well as to contribute to the academic activity of 19 Washington Square North, NYU Abu Dhabi’s home on the Square.
Successful applicants will be granted office space at 19 Washington Square North; a $5,000 budget for the proposed project; and one course release. Fellows will continue to receive regular salary and benefits through their School.
In addition to organizing an event to be held at 19 WSN, Faculty Fellows will be expected to participate in regular (roughly monthly) luncheon gatherings to discuss the development of their research and project outcomes, where they will have the chance to learn from, support, and brainstorm with their peers in diverse disciplines. Fellows will be expected to work primarily from their fellowship office, and will also be encouraged to participate in scholarly life at 19 WSN more broadly, for example by attending events of interest that are organized in New York by the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute.
As detailed in the application instructions, applicants must obtain the approval of their chair and dean in order to apply. The teaching schedule of Faculty Fellows will be adjusted by one course, and candidates must be prepared to make arrangements with their chair and/or dean to cover their remaining teaching obligations.
The Faculty Fellowship program will contribute up to USD 15,000 to departments for the cost of teaching replacement. Funds can be used only to cover replacement teaching in the Fellow’s department during the year of the fellowship.

The application period season will open on Monday, September 2, 2019 and close at 5pm on Friday, October 11, 2019.
Applicants will be notified of their outcomes in early November.
