New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Residential College Operations Manager reporting to the Assistant Director for Residential Education.
The Residential College Operations Manager (RCOM) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and housing assignment processes for undergraduate student housing across the residential colleges. As a live-in professional and key member of the Residential Education team, the RCOM manages housing logistics and supports students through direct interaction, advocacy, and guidance. This role encompasses room assignments, housing transitions, occupancy tracking, guest policy enforcement, and communication strategy execution. The RCOM also participates in leadership initiatives with Resident Assistants and professional staff. This position includes regular evening and weekend responsibilities and participates in a 12-month on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing Assignments and Room Changes
- The RCOM manages all aspects of student housing assignments and room changes. This includes oversight of MOSES assignment processes, Bed4Bed exchanges, reassignments related to facility issues (e.g., mold), housing for visiting students, and unique case coordination. The RCOM ensures accuracy, transparency, and fairness in housing placements and works across systems like StarRez and MOSES to implement changes efficiently
Housing Transitions and Occupancy Management
- The RCOM leads the execution of all housing transition processes, including student check-in and check-out procedures. This includes coordinating room readiness with Facilities and Hospitality, managing key distribution, verifying occupancy through documentation and walkthroughs, and ensuring timely room turnover. The RCOM tracks early arrivals, late departures, and emergency housing transitions
Guest Policy Management and Special Case Coordination
- The RCOM develops and enforces the day-to-day logistics of the residential guest policy in partnership with the Campus Safety team. This includes overseeing registration procedures for both day and overnight guests, supporting community education and compliance, and resolving issues as they arise. Additionally, the RCOM manages housing-related student transitions, including those related to Leaves of Absence and Withdrawals
Communication and Student-Facing Resources
- The RCOM is responsible for managing the housing operations inbox and developing clear, engaging communication materials such as infographics, the Housing Linktree, and comprehensive Housing Guides. They manage communication timelines and ensure students have access to accurate information regarding housing policies, deadlines, and updates
Liaison Responsibilities and Facilities Coordination
- The RCOM serves as a key liaison with Facilities, Hospitality, Public Safety, and Housing Services to coordinate maintenance schedules, address emergency repairs, and prepare rooms for occupancy. This includes maintaining communication around PPM, executing room inspections, and documenting and following up on facility issues.Collaborates with Facilities to support undergraduate student storage logistics during non-term transitions, ensuring students have access to secure and clearly communicated storage options
Crisis Response and On-Call Coverage
- The RCOM serves on a 24/7 rotating duty schedule to respond to student crises, including medical emergencies, mental health concerns, and facilities incidents. They provide immediate response and follow-up care, connecting students to appropriate resources and supporting community well-being
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Candidates should have effective experience in administrative experience in the field of Student Affairs
Preferred Education:
- Master's Degree in higher education administration, business, counseling, or related field
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of full-time experience in housing operations, residential life, or a related student affairs environment, ideally within a college or university setting
- Demonstrated expertise in using StarRez or a comparable housing management system to manage assignments, occupancy, room changes, and operational workflows
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service with strong written and verbal communication skills that are clear, empathetic, and professional
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information, especially in high-pressure or time-sensitive contexts
- A student-centered approach and a deep understanding of how to support students requiring housing accommodations related to medical, accessibility, or personal needs, in collaboration with campus partners
- Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to respond quickly and thoughtfully to emergent challenge
- Demonstrated success in collaborating across departments and managing complex workflows involving multiple stakeholders
- Ability to lead a team confidently and efficiently

- Ability to stay proactive and self-motivated, balance multiple priorities, and remain flexible to projects and tasks that may arise
