New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Staff Physician reporting to the Medical Director.
The Staff Physician provides medical services and management to the NYU Abu Dhabi student community in accordance with established medical standards and ethics.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides direct healthcare services for the NYUAD student community and, at times, extended community
Ensures the provision of professional, ethical, and high quality short- and long-term health care, consultation, referral, education & outreach services that support student learning & development
Works collaboratively with the Health Center Director, nurses, counselors, dietician, administrative staff and others at the University to foster a holistic model of healthcare
Represents Medical Services of the Health Center on University committees, projects and initiatives
Develops and supervises the implementation of educational programs, based on community and campus assessments of health risks as well as the needs and interests of students
Provides leadership in the coordination of case management and medical emergency intervention
Assists in the development of effective policies, protocols, processes and structures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of students
Serve in the physician on-call rotation established by the Medical Director
Provides on-call emergency evaluations and interventions
Provides clinical and administrative leadership in the design, development, planning, implementation, coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of healthcare services.
Provides outstanding clinical services and direct patient care including case management and referrals, collaborates with other clinical providers
Maintains case records, notes, and closing summaries of “on call” clients treated
Ensures standards of care at NYUAD are aligned with those at NYU-NY
Provides clinical supervision to licensed Health Center Staff, coordinates multidisciplinary treatment and support teams
Serves in an on-call capacity to respond to student and campus emergencies,
and serves as a key resource and source of consultation for Wellness Counselors involved in responding to psychological emergencies and other urgent situations
Provides consultation and makes recommendations to the AVC and Student Affairs Deans, Student Response Team, and other University personnel as appropriate on mental health and substance abuse issues
Develops and supervises the implementation of educational programs, based on community and campus assessments of health risks as well as the needs and interests of students
Other responsibilities as assigned by the AMD
Required Education:
Ability to obtain a Medical License in Abu Dhabi as a Consultant Physician
BLS Certification
Required Experience:
At least two (2) years’ experience as a physician in an ambulatory care setting required
Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records
Prior experience working with college-age population preferred
Enthusiasm and aptitude for direct patient care.
Ability to work with a diverse, international population.
Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and confident team player with attention to detail
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting projects and demands
Knowledge of cultural issues specific to the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East preferred
Ability to understand the wider perspective of the institution and how the Health Center supports and fits into the broader educational mission
Ability to understand and appreciate intellectual, emotional, social, and psychological development of undergraduate students in a diverse international community committed to intellectual rigor and ethical values
Ability to think creatively and critically about programs, services, and resources in order to provide the best possible environment to support students
