New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Community-based Learning Coordinator to work underneath the supervision of the Academic Program Manager for Global Education
The Community-based Learning Coordinator is responsible for supporting faculty and students through the design and implementation of community-based learning engagements throughout the UAE and for the preparation, documentation, and analysis of data generated through these engagements. The CBL Coordinator assists with designing and implementing CBL engagements for visiting student programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support faculty in designing, organizing, and implementing community-based learning activities in the UAE
Organize logistics for faculty-led, course-related engagements in the community, including preparations for speakers, visits, and activities both on and off campus in the UAE
Maintain stock of CBL supplies for instructional support
Assist in finalizing logistics for community engagement events
Research prospective community engagement programs and events
Supervise in the field visits, in-class guest speakers and activities on and off campus
Photograph and film community engagements for the web, social media and in-print publications
Update the Office of Community-Based Learning social media accounts and Intranet pages
Prepare a monthly report on all CBL engagements conducted with detailed information, visual content
Administer the evaluation of CBL engagements
Maintain financial records and keep track of expenses
Track faculty community engagements, research and workshops across NYUAD through maintaining an Excel database
Maintain and organize photo, video and quotes archives
Maintain an infrastructure (web-based and hard copy) of information on community-based learning opportunities and pedagogies
Administer the community-based learning web page (public and Intranet) by updating, editing, and maintaining as needed so it remains current
Seek and research various available sources for possible community engagements and events (i.e. newspapers, magazines, reliable websites, etc.)
Present information sessions to visiting students, predeparture orientation sessions to classes engaging in off-campus community-based learning and serving as a speaker to promote the work of the community-based learning team on and off campus
Serve as trip supervisor for local, UAE-based community engagements as needed
Assist in supervising and mentoring student assistants
Any additional tasks and as assigned by the supervisor
Required Education:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field, with further evidence of continuing education beyond the BA
Required Experience:
1 year of related experience in a cross-cultural setting based in the UAE
Work experience in a university setting
Excellent interpersonal skills. Planning /implementing special events and activities
Excellent community network of contacts and/or proven ability to develop such a network
Experience working with the Emirati and Arabic-speaking community
Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (both verbal and written) and the ability to work with people at all levels
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database applications
Working well both independently and in a group
Possessing strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic
Attention to detail, being well-organized and able to multi-task
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google apps, database applications and photo/video editing software
Video/film production skills, including examples of past work
