New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Senior Financial Support Counselor to join the Admissions department. This position will report directly to our Financial-Aid team in New York.

As a member of the Financial Aid Global Team within Admissions, the Senior Financial Support Counselor will manage the planning and implementation of relevant NYUAD initiatives involving student financial aid as well as financial planning.  The counselor will collaborate with the NYU team on the evaluation of financial support applications and the determination of amount/configuration of aid packages for students entering the University at NYUAD.  Consult with various University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, Campus Life) both at NYUNY and NYUAD sites as well as involve external agencies as needed for processing related to financial support and payment.  The incumbent will also create and administer effective quality controls and implement modifications to achieve high quality, customer service delivery for all service channels (counter, phones, internet, etc.). Assess the effectiveness of current operations and implement enhancements to systems. *Participate in the long term strategic planning of the delivery of financial aid to both the undergraduate and graduate population.

The Senior Financial Support Counselor will advise applicants, students, and parents on financial aid application process, University policies and procedures, and assist them with resolving problems and will work closely with current and prospective students on the process of financial aid at NYUAD.  The individual will explore and provide financial guidance that addresses challenges unique to the Abu Dhabi student experience including planning for educational travel and how to plan for a successful financial transition beyond NYUAD.  

The role will also be required to consult with the NYU Financial Education Program to ensure that financial education at NYUAD should align with basic principals at NYU.  They will work with Graduate Admissions office to provide necessary financial support for Graduate Students including establishing eligibility, packaging and providing financial aid counseling.  

The incumbent will adhere to established policy and procedures as well as have a clear understanding of US federal financial aid process.  They will be responsible for the collection of data and assisting in evaluation of data while ensuring compliance with NYU policy and regulations.  Present financial education workshops to current and prospective students.  Assesses financial education partners, products and services in order to provide credible personal money management education to current and prospective students, administrators, staff and faculty and other audiences as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Aid Package Assessment & Review

  • Evaluate student financial aid packages
  • Coordinate financial aid packaging for incoming students

On Campus Counseling

  • Meet with current students regarding financial aid status/packing
  • Conduct Financial Education sessions for undergraduate/graduate population
  • Work with NYUAD Finance Team to ensure consistent messaging around financial aid packaging.

Recruitment & Outreach of International Students:

  • Responsible for the collection of data and assisting in evaluation of data while ensuring compliance with NYU policy and regulations.
  • Remain knowledgeable around US Federal Financial aid compliance


  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting designated by NYU NYC
  • Review data to judge efficacy of outreach activities, areas for improvement

Student Programming:

  • On campus events such as counselor fly in programs, candidate weekend, open house
  • Support recruitment activities with the office of admission

Special Population Management:

  • Work with key stakeholders on campus to promote financial education within departments outside of the office of Admissions

Financial Education/Literacy:

  • Attend workshops concerning Financial literacy as it pertains to recent graduates and current undergraduate students
  • Host on campus workshops
  • Work and collaborate with other department in line with institutional priorities

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from liberal arts style program or relating to education/counseling

Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree
  • Training related to US federal financial Aid
  • Training related to US Higher Education

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in university financial aid particularly in a US based higher education program
  • Experience with secondary education, university advising, and or financial aid systems

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ personal or work experience related to US financial aid
