New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Associate Director of External Relations and Partnerships.
This position reports to the Executive Artistic Director, and provides an essential complement to the Director of Marketing, Director of Business Operations, and Director of Artistic Planning and will work in close collaboration with those directors. Responsible for all VIP, governmental, diplomatic, and community relations and external and internal communications relating to NYU Abu Dhabi Arts Center. The post holder will serve as chief advisor to the Executive Artistic Director on communications with local and regional communities and will be the chief Arabic language spokesperson for The Arts Center. The post holder will also be responsible for donor stewardship, working in collaboration with DARO, and rental client cultivation.
Serve as the point person for The Arts Center's executive leadership responsible for identifying, managing and cultivating external stakeholder relationships and building networks at a national, regional and local level including funders, regulatory bodies, and policymakers, as well as members of the cultural and education sectors. Includes attending social and business functions, including boards and industry groups both during work day, and outside of office hours in evenings and weekends. Serve as a resource to connect external relationships with other University colleagues
Serve as chief spokesperson on Arabic language communications and marketing and media including interviews for television and other media sources. Serve as an advisor on all relations with local and regional media and specific communities. Collaborate with Director of Marketing on external Arabic communications strategy, including reviewing all Arabic communications and light translation as needed. Post regularly in Arabic to social media channels. Serve as the primary liaison for culturally sensitive interactions and crisis management in Arabic and English with stakeholders and artists
Work with the Executive Artistic Director and other senior directors to ensure that key relationships are well managed across the organization. Attend regular staff meetings, including representing the department at university stakeholder groups, participate in strategic planning, including developing and meeting annual budget and community outreach goals, and providing regular reporting on community usage milestones
Work with DARO to facilitating the transition of relationships into sponsorship and fundraising opportunities that support the work and vision of the center as a potential revenue center/reducer of expense
Track and report on all Community Use and partnerships for internal and external reporting purposes
Cultivate partnerships and identify opportunities for group ticket sales, rental revenue, sponsorship opportunities from other organizations in collaboration with Director of Business Operations
General administration and execution, including but not limited to maintaining VIP lists, tracking and managing expenses, coordination of meetings, managing guest lists and invitations
Develop training opportunities and strategies in arts management and production designed to prepare young Emiratis and local residents for careers in today’s international arts environment, including hands-on work experience, independent and collective learning opportunities, and personalized mentoring. Supervise and mentor interns
Bachelor's Degree required, with non-profit performing arts, film, or music audience development experience and arts education strongly preferred
Advanced degree in Arts Administration, Communications, Development desirable
Five+ years management experience, with proven success in government and VIP relations, audience development, education, communications, fundraising and/or media relations
Superb written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English
Ability to proofread in Arabic and provide simultaneous translation for meetings and talks when needed
Specialist knowledge of the Arab world, with focus on UAE/GCC preferred, with the ability to work with UAE government ministers and officials
A passion for and broad knowledge of the performing arts, music, film, and creative industries internationally
Knowledge of and experience working with diverse audiences and cultures
Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, project management skills, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple and concurrent deadlines
