New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Associate Director, Digital Communications reporting to the Executive Director, Public Affairs & Communications. 

The Associate Director, Digital Communications will supervise the University’ digital communications team and oversee creation of compelling editorial and multimedia content across NYUAD platforms and write where and when required. Outlets include the NYUAD website, social media, research reports, promotional brochures, and the University's intranet, and student portal. Manage the editorial calendar, maintain the NYUAD editorial style guide, ensure quality and consistency of all communications, and serve as the University’s official copy editor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the University’s content development team (writers, videographers) and collaborate on strategy to grow multi-platform content, audience, and engagement. Manage editorial calendar for various NYUAD communications channels, including the University's website, social media channels, and annual research report. Consult with various departments, faculty, and students to plan editorial and video content covering both research and student-centric topics. Work closely with the media relations team to identify storytelling opportunities for local and international press
  • Lead the University’s web communications team and provide strategic oversight and guidance and editorial management on the NYUAD website and internal portals. Identify opportunities for improvement, meet with key stakeholders, and develop content plans aligned with University goals and priorities
  • Own the development of social media strategies and campaigns; oversee the planning, development, and execution of social media marketing to meet organizational goals. Monitor social media channels in order to identify any emerging issues or opportunities. Stay on top of  industry trends and adjust course as required
  • Develop, write, edit, and proof various publications and University collateral, ensuring they align with strategic goals and meet stakeholder needs. Ensure quality and consistency of all communications. Ensure branding and editorial guidelines are adhered to. Provide editorial support for departments within the school, as needed

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree

Required Experience:

  • 6-10 years of related experience and supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with various style guides (Chicago, AP, etc.)
  • Excellent command of the English language and grammar, excellent editing and writing skills, and organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in an academic or other not-for-profit organization
  • Background and proven success in supporting digital communications and in digital marketing
  • Experience with production of news stories and multimedia content
  • Goal-oriented and tech-savvy with knowledge of project management methods and techniques
