New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Club Sports & Intercollegiate Administration Coordinator working within the NYUAD Athletics team.

Administration Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Department of Athletics’ sports programs under the supervision and at the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Athletics. In addition, the Club Sports & Intercollegiate Administration Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the development of the Department’s Club sports, supporting the logistics of the intercollegiate sports program, and teaching regular physical education courses, as follows:

Club Sports

  • Develop and promote the club sports offering students additional opportunities to compete beyond the Department’s intercollegiate athletic program
  • Provide direct supervision of and maintain effective communication with club sport leaders, captains, coaches, and managers
  • Identify emerging club sports and develop strategic plans, budgets, and methods for implementing the same in a sustainable way
  • Plan, develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures for club sports so as to include any individual with the desire to participate
  • Oversees the budget of club sports, including budget tracking and expenditure monitoring
  • Serve as secondary point of contact for club sport participants
  • Provide leadership and management strategies for club sport leaders, captains, coaches, and managers
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate club sport leaders, captains, coaches, and managers
  • Serve as the primary representative at all home club sport competitions and events
  • Develop and evaluate club sport emergency response procedures and protocols so as to ensure compliance with the University Risk Management System
  • Develop and implement an on-going process of program evaluation through satisfaction surveys/focus groups, make recommendations, and implement required changes
  • Prepare semester and year-end reports for each club sport
  • Collaborate with the Student Athletics Advisory Committee (SAAC) in reviewing new club sport proposals
  • Collaborate with the Sports Communication Manager in maintaining current information on university websites as well as promoting and publicizing club sports to generate student interest and encourage maximum participation
  • Interact with colleagues of similar positions at other colleges and universities

Intercollegiate Sports

  • Manages intercollegiate team travel including transportation, meals, and lodging
  • Recommends purchasing and coordinates maintenance of equipment, apparel, and facility needs with the Facility, Equipment & Competition Manager and/or Assistant Director of Athletics
  • Helps monitor the budget of intercollegiate athletics, including budget tracking and expenditure monitoring
  • Generally, assists in the organization and development of intercollegiate teams and their participation in ADISL (Abu Dhabi Inter-University Sports League) and Higher Education Sports Federation (HESF) competitions
  • Provides additional support for Department of Athletics special events and commitments

Coaching/Teaching Club Sports, Intercollegiate Team and/or Physical Education or Fitness Classes

  • Coaches club sports and/or an intercollegiate team and/or teaches group fitness or physical education classes, including preparing lesson plans, organizing and scheduling space allocation, determining equipment needs, evaluation of student progress and recording attendance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Club sports oversight and administration, including planning, promotion, organization, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of club sport programming. Managing all club sport travel and facility requirements. Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate club sport leaders, captains, coaches, and managers. Provide supplemental supervision, direction and mentoring of club sports leaders, captains, coaches, and managers. Ensuring compliance with University safety and risk management procedures and protocols.
  • Intercollegiate Athletics support
  • Teach physical education classes, including preparing lesson plans, determining equipment allocation and space reservations, evaluating students, and recording attendance. Assist in curriculum development and the introduction of new physical education classes.
  • Other duties assigned from time to time

Required Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies, etc.) or undergraduate degree with previous work experience in a similar role.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or the ability to secure certifications before start of work.      

Preferred Education:

  • Holds one or more coaching certifications

Required Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of and/or experience in intercollegiate athletics.
  • At least two years of experience in a high school/collegiate athletic environment with a commitment to the integration of athletics and academics.
  • At least two years of coaching or equivalent experience (ie. club coaching or instructing).

Preferred Experience:

  • A sports background in event and program coordination and management
  • At least two years of coaching experience within a higher education setting
