New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Manager, Analysis and Management Reporting reporting to the Director, Budget and Planning. 

The Manager, Reporting and Data Analytics’ primary responsibility is to distill qualitative and quantitative insight to communicate compelling stories by maintaining a data repository to provide appropriate information to drive strategic planning and decision making. A key focus of the role will be to design, prepare & maintain all management reporting for internal and external parties.  In addition, with the current available tools, the role will be responsible for automating all reports needed to generate on time reporting for decision making.

The candidate is expected to build strong internal and external relationships and collaborate with teammates, business leaders, HR, and IT application leads to empower the organization with high quality data and reporting.


Key Responsibilities

Organizational Reporting and Dashboards 

  • Prototype Monthly and Quarterly Report Package: Working with the Budget Director, using existing reports, lead the development of a working prototype for the monthly and quarterly budget and actual reports for distribution to outside funding agencies, NYU leadership, departmental unit heads. This report set should include key metrics important to both NYUAD leadership and NYUAD's funders
  • Prototype Monthly Projection Models: Working with the Budget Director, lead the development of reporting tools that enable the compilation of anticipated activity in order to provide leadership, departmental managers and other stakeholders reports that combine actual activity with anticipated events in order to project year-end results and expected surpluses or deficits
  • Expand the Existing Portfolio of Key Metrics: Working with the Budget Director, expand NYUAD's existing set of metrics to determine and develop a set of metrics in support of NYUAD's key management objectives and develop supporting reports
  • Provide data integrity by identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies in the content, structure, and relationships within data; cleans and prepares data, as necessary
  • Consults with performance analysts, program staff, and vendors to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of performance dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Provide budget analysis and support for the budget units of: Campus Life, Technology (NYUAD/GTS and Capital Budget), Research and Academic Programs (Research)
  • Prepare a myriad of scheduled as well as ad hoc reports using PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, and ServiceNow. Create charts, graphs, infographics, dashboards, etc. to support knowledge acquisition and decision making

Financial Planning System

  • Partner with the ERP Applications technical support team to manage dimensions, setting up scenarios and versions, managing meta data, loading and calculation of data, updating security in excel and communicate to ITS for change, preparing a logical flow of any new forms or enhancing existing forms and explaining the business logic to the developer to write business rules, process business rules as required,  managing approval process in HP, promoting task list, troubleshoot user requirements via service link, train NYUAD user community, co-ordinate with NY ITS and  perform UAT in QA, assist in migration and deliver final product to budget office. Troubleshoot and advise support teams on data usage/data issues as needed for proprietary application

Workflow and Knowledge Enhancement

  • Oversee and work in collaboration with ITS and Controller's Office on all financial reporting. Work with the Director to develop and improve financial workflow, reporting and integrity of financial data
  • Work with units and departments to ensure they have tools to monitor resource decisions and to address budgetary problems throughout the year
  • Advise others in the expert use of the University's financial system inquiry and reporting tools

Capital and Lifecycle

  • Support and actively participate in the Capital and Lifecycle reporting needs, provide the analysis and inputs to initiate the projects. Develop and maintain the spending and available balance reports for the allocated projects

Additional Budget Office Support

  • Support the budget office team during the budgeting and planning process with reports and data for analysis


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or accounting 
  • Master's degree in management, accounting, computer science, or any related field
  • Professional Financial and/or Accounting certification is preferred

Experience Requirements



  • 7 years’ experience or equivalent combination in data warehouse analysis, report development or business analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in global business environments
  • Knowledge of project management, change management and business analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Organization, training, research and planning skills
  • Knowledge of business intelligence practices and tools
  • Excellent knowledge of developing and monitoring against key metrics
  • Excellent knowledge of simplified query tools (experience with Hyperion a plus)
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL, relational data bases and OLAP technology (experience with Essbase a Plus)


  • Experience working with business intelligence tools (such as Tableau, OBIEE, Brio, Hyperion, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.) in a data warehouse environment. Experience supporting a large customer base within an institution of higher education. Experience working as a trainer of business processes and /or software applications
