New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint Head of Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Management.

Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Operations, the role of the Head of Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Management is to manage the Strategic Sourcing team and support with commercial evaluations of purchasing goods and services. The Head of Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Management will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build cohesive and successful commercial service, maximizing and shaping markets and increasing departmental influence by embedding strategic commercial planning in the development of each commodity purchase with respective business units.

This position is primarily responsible for:

  • Driving down the cost of purchasing initiatives
  • Develop strategic sourcing solutions to deliver savings, added value benefits and improved value for money
  • Support initiatives to deliver cost benefit and maximize value for money
  • Develop opportunities for collaboration by looking for synergies with category
  • Analyze spend data from multiple systems to provide recommendations to category leads

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for request for proposal (RFP) commercial review and analysis by working closely with category leads. Ensure independent evaluation of commercial data in line with contractual structure. Individual must have heightened business & commercial acumen, maturity & independence on assessing and making critical decisions that aligns with broad/diverse stakeholders, enduring non-partisan character that is able to understand and navigate through conflicting agendas and find the right trade-offs when making decisions
  • Review Procurement spend data from multiple sources to identify maverick spend and provide recommendation on processes or vendor consolidation
  • Responsible of Strategic Sourcing team by managing day-to-day operational activities while ensuring best value is achieved
  • Assist category owners in developing a robust 3-5 years category strategies to cover key categories and deliver improved results and value for money

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field/Professional Procurement qualification (i.e. CFA)

Experience Requirements

  • 15 + years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Procurement experience essential
