New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a dynamic, experienced and qualified Manager, Intercollegiate Athletics and External Sports Relations reporting to the Director, Athletics.

The position of Manager, Intercollegiate Athletics and External Sports Relations is a high level administrative role, critical to the future success of NYU Abu Dhabi’s Department of Athletics, Intramurals & Recreation. This person will oversee the university’s competitive athletics program, its participation in the Abu Dhabi Inter-University Sports League (ADISL) and the Higher Education Sports Federation (HESF), and build external relationship with various governmental and non-governmental sports organizations. As the link between the department and the intercollegiate coaches and their student athletes, the role requires consistent communication to ensure programming goals are successful met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the daily oversight of the university’s intercollegiate teams, including scheduling practices/matches, coordinating facilities, mentoring coaches, budgeting, transportation, equipment purchase/replacement, and in house professional development
  • Act as the university’s point person for the Abu Dhabi Inter-University Sports League (ADISL) and the Higher Education Sports Federation (HESF). Attend ADISL and HESF meetings, coordinate competitive schedules/events, event management, report and provide web site content, and maintain records
  • Build and facilitate the university’s external relationships with various governmental and non-governmental sports organizations
  • Ensure proper communication and follow up with Sports Communication

 


Education Requirements

Essential
  • An undergraduate degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies, etc.) or undergraduate degree with previous work experience in a similar role
  • Current CPR/First AID certification or the ability to obtain within the first 30 days
Desirable
  • An undergraduate degree in sports management or sports business. A master’s degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies, etc.) or working toward obtaining one
  • Holds one or more coaching certifications

Experience Requirements

Essential
  • At least three years of experience in higher education and/or a sports related industry
  • Strong commitment to excellence
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to build cross cultural relationships
  • Arabic speaking
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and weekends as needed
Desirable
  • Three years experience working in a higher education athletic department
  • The ability to engage with a highly diverse student population
  • A passion for sports
  • Ability to seek new opportunities and develop external relationships in the community
