New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Registrar reporting to the Vice Provost of Academic Administration.

The Registrar plays a critical role in working with faculty staff and students at NYU Abu Dhabi. The incumbent fulfills a leadership role in planning, organizing and administratively managing staff, processes and technology as they pertain to all activities for which the Office of the NYUAD Registrar is responsible.  This includes serving as official custodian of student records.

Key Responsibilities

Business Practice, Policy & Operations

  • Consult with students, faculty, parents, University administrators, and public and private agencies concerning policies, procedures, and inquiries
  • In conjunctions with the Vice Provost for Academic Administration develop, implement and administer policies, procedures and practices for conducting all NYUAD activities related to: academic records, bulletin production, classroom schedules and related areas, course registration degree audits, conferral of degrees, and other activities undertaken by the Office of the NYUAD Registrar
  • Ensure consistency, when appropriate, with relevant policies and procedures at NYU in New York and ensure that all operations are in compliance with various legal and University regulations
  • Work closely with the Vice Provost for Academic Administration, Dean of Students, and other colleagues to help monitor student academic performance and academic standing
  • Help to assess and determine technological initiatives, and helps lead the use of technology to ensure provision of efficient service to students, faculty and other members of the University community 

People Management

  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, manage and lead staff, using sound management and supervisory practices. Responsible for evaluating and improving staff performance
  • Provide leadership, coordination and oversight of the daily operations of the Office of the NYUAD Registrar
  • Develop and lead a collaborative team environment where staff are encouraged and supported in personal and professional development

Data Stewardship & Management

  • Work with the Vice Provost for Academic Administration and NYU Registrar in directing the development, maintenance, and integrity of students' permanent enrollment and academic performance records, ensuring compliance with guidelines and requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable privacy regulations and policies as they relate to the assigned areas of responsibility and serve as the NYUAD privacy compliance coordinator

University & Department Representative

  • Participate as an active member of a number of university committees and working groups, including the Academic Affairs Advisory Committee, the Commencement Committee, the Compliance and Risk Management Working Group, and the Global Registrar’s Group
  • Provide technical support to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee
  • Develop effective collaborative partnerships with Admissions, Campus Life, Global Education, Student Finances, the NYU Registrar’s Office and other key stakeholders

 


Education Requirements

Essential
  • Bachelor's degree; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience Requirements

Essential
  • Minimum of seven years of related experience in an educational institution
  • Experience working collaboratively with faculty and staff in other parts of the campus creating positive experiences for students
  • Demonstrated experience quickly and accurately assessing rapidly emerging or developing situations
  • Demonstrate a high degree of discretion in handling sensitive matters in a fair-minded manner
  • Understanding of the Registrar's role in support of a student-centered, multifaceted academic enterprise, and familiarity with the implementation of large databases and issues related to the application of technology to student/faculty client services
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Political and cultural sensitivity with a clear perspective on diversity and intercultural dialogue as they apply to a student body assembled from among the most talented students from across the world
  • Ability to work collaboratively
Desirable
  • Five or more years working in higher education in Registrar or related functions
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a political and cultural sensitive environment with a clear perspective on diversity and intercultural dialogue as they apply to a student body assembled from among the most talented students from across the world
  • Experience with the PeopleSoft student information system
  • Effective leadership, management, and mentoring skills
  • Experience as an educator
