New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Compensation & Benefits Specialist reporting to the Associate Director, Compensation & Benefits. 

The individual will be responsible for compensation, benefits, payroll and HRIS administration with primary focus and responsibility for compensation.  The specialist will focus on job description creation, evaluation, survey participation and analysis, assessing market trends and recommending and developing competitive compensation and benefit programs.  They will also provide salary recommendations and administer annual salary increase program, along with assisting with benefits administration, employee enrollment and orientation.  The incumbent will provide support for benefits and payroll administration and back up support for other team members and analyze and recommend process improvements and policy recommendations. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Compensation: administer, and maintain the job evaluation system for NYUAD campus administrative roles.  Maintain/update the Job Family documentation, evaluation records, and other associated supporting documentation. Administer job evaluation process to ensure appropriate classification of positions. Interview department supervisors and employees to review draft job descriptions and identify changes in responsibilities.  Recommend classifications and salary structure levels.  Analyze internal and external salary data and recommend benchmark data to ensure competitiveness with external market and ensure internal equity. Participate in compensation surveys, analyze results and provide findings to ensure competitiveness.  Identify and resolve potential internal equity issues; review and recommend approval of salaries above recruitment ranges and salaries for certain internal transfers/promotions and/or unique situations. Negotiate and recommend solutions to facilitate general salary increase requests.  Administer the annual salary review process by maintaining the required spreadsheets and administering the plans per the policy guidelines. Act as gatekeeper for HRIS setup data for: compensation, market data, administrative job families, administrative job bands and administrative job creation by monitoring and auditing data integrity for data accuracy
  • Benefits: Provide support in the administration of new enrollments and changes for current employees for health and retirement plans, specifically GCC and Abu Dhabi pension plans. Respond to and resolve employee inquiries or concerns regarding benefits, services and coverage issues.  Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (employees, Controller’s office, other HR teams, etc.) and vendors.  Help to resolve service issues, improve and streamline processes
  • Interim resource for PeopleLink inquiry resolution: Assist as a backup for the PeopleLink team to inquiries for information and assistance on general HR-related matters from walk-ins, emails and telephone calls, etc. provide information on incoming inquiries related to NYUAD private school benefit, employment letters, NYUAD portable tuition, salary and allowances advance process, and housing advance requests
  • New Hire Onboarding: Conduct the compensation & benefits orientations for new employees. Ensure employees are informed and understand all NYUAD benefits and compensation programs. Explain benefit options, compensation and regional allowance programs and related administration including eligibility requirements, policies and procedures
  • Assist with special projects; collect and compile data; assemble materials; generate reports for Manager and Directors.  Interpret human resources policies and guidelines, agreements, and employment laws.  Assist with process analysis and improvement.  Contribute to HR website

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience with compensation programs in the Middle East

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the compensation management field, recommending, developing, implementing, and administering pay programs
  • Compensation management skills
  • Knowledge of payroll and benefits administration in the UAE
  • Arabic language skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to see the big picture and the implication of actions on the organization beyond immediate job responsibilities
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in administering a local and/or regional pension program
