The development, approval, and submission process for external funding proposals is managed by Research Administration in the Office of the Provost.
Getting Started
Proposal Development
Faculty who wish to seek external grant funds for research or other university programs should contact the office of Research Administration in the Provost's Office. Research Administration staff have significant experience in program design and proposal development, including budgeting.
All sponsored programs proposals are reviewed internally by the relevant dean(s), by Research Administration, and the Vice Provost for Research Administration and University Partnerships. Proposals may also be reviewed by the NYU Office of Sponsored Programs at Washington Square for approval. In general, approved proposals going to US funding sources are submitted by OSP, while proposals to non-US sources are usually submitted by the NYUAD Vice Provost.
Forms
- NYU Proposal Synopsis Form (authentication required)
- NYU Checklist (PDF)
These are the primary internal routing forms. The Synopsis is completed online by the Principal Investigator (PI). A hard copy of the document should be signed by the PI and the relevant dean(s), and then delivered to NYUAD Research Administration for further processing. (For NYUAD, the dean signs as the "Department Chairperson/Head" and the Vice Provost for Research Administration and University Partnerships signs as the "Dean or School Research Coordinator.")
The Research Administration office can provide assistance as needed in completing the forms.
NYU policy requires that all Investigators must disclose their significant financial interests and revise their Annual Disclosure Forms (faculty only), as necessary to be current, and submit the Investigator Financial Interest Disclosure Form for Research and Other Sponsored Projects to their dean or his/her designee prior to submission of any proposal. This applies even if an Investigator has no financial interest to disclose.
