NYUAD’s Summer Academy graduation is scheduled to take place on December 14

Press Release

NYU Abu Dhabi will celebrate the graduation of 26 outstanding high school students from the 18-month Summer Academy program on December 14. The program is designed specifically for academically outstanding Abu Dhabi-based Emirati high school students, and seeks to prepare students for admission to the world's top tier universities.

The Summer Academy program – for recipients of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Scholarship for Outstanding High School Students – begins during the summer following the 10th year of high school and continues for 18 months. Instruction in this prestigious program includes online and in-person instruction, and is designed to introduce participants to a broad-based liberal arts education through classroom work in Abu Dhabi, and cultural experiences at some of NYU’s global sites including New York and Florence, Italy.

Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, who serves as a key adviser to the program said: “The Summer Academy program is intended to be academically rigorous, challenging students to think critically and engage in cross-cultural learning. I congratulate these 26 young men and women who have spent 18 months preparing themselves for the next stage of their educational journey. Their commitment has no doubt help set the foundation for their success in an increasingly competitive and globalised environment.”

Diane C.Yu, deputy president of NYU and executive director of the Summer Academy program said: “The Summer Academy program offers students an opportunity to develop academic and intellectual confidence, cultural competencies, and an appetite for lifelong learning. These students have completed a rigorous program designed to enhance their applications to some of the world’s top universities, and I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to this graduating class.”

Students in the Summer Academy program focus on areas such as critical thinking, English, writing, mathematical reasoning, and leadership, in addition to personalized coaching in standardized test preparation designed to assist with specific university admission requirements.
