The 99
Exhibition The 99: Islamic Superheroes

Open to the Public

Location 19 Washington Square North

In 2006 Kuwaiti entrepreneur Naif Al-Mutawa created The 99, the first comic book series based on Islamic culture. The 99 includes teenaged superheroes that take on one of the 99 traits possessed by Allah. The teens hail from around the world and work together to combat injustice and promote peace. Curated by Kerry Barrett, this exhibition features select pages, covers, and original art from the series. In the Winter of 2011, the exhibition traveled to NYUAD's Downtown Campus in Abu Dhabi.
