Exhibition Little Bangladesh — Mapping Abu Dhabi

Open to the Public

Time 6:30pm

Location 19 Washington Square North, New York

Yasser Elsheshtawy maps the use of public spaces by predominantly South Asian communities in the United Arab Emirates. His current exhibition highlights Sector 13 in downtown Abu Dhabi. Through motion-capture photography, aerial cameras, and computer mapping technology, Elsheshtawy provides an in-depth depiction of behavior patterns and how they relate to urban design. The exploration shows the resilience of this predominantly Bangladeshi community in circumventing official space narratives and their ability to convene and carve out a unique haven for themselves.
