Shroff-composite
Exhibition The Cosmopolitans: Photographs by Zubin Shroff

Open to the Public

Date

Location 19 Washington Square North

Zubin Shroff's portraits span six continents, mingling pilgrims, office workers, artists, construction workers, with actors from both Bollywood and Hollywood, and with Shroff's family and friends. By including no names or descriptions, Shroff challenges the viewer not only to guess their whereabouts or ethnicities, but also to consider larger definitions of who we are and how our lives and cultures connect. During the fall of 2010, The Cosmopolitans was exhibited at NYUAD's Downtown Campus in Abu Dhabi.

The Cosmopolitans has been exhibited around the world and was published by Veenman Publisher in 2008, with a preface/essay by Ella Shohat, Professor of Art and Public Policy, and Robert P. Stam, University Professor of Cinema Studies, both at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU.
