Workshop Shakespeare as Global Cultural Heritage

By Invitation Only

Location Abu Dhabi

What does it mean to study and perform Shakespeare’s works in a global context? Bringing together scholars and theater practitioners to assess the state of the field of “Global Shakespeare,” this workshop considers Shakespeare as a writer who drew on materials beyond his local setting; the rise of “Shakespeare” as a global cultural commodity; and Shakespeare’s work as the focal point for a shared global cultural heritage.
