Biography

Having taught at Venice, Strathclyde, Harvard, Wellesley, and Udine Alide Cagidemetrio holds a Chair in American Studies at the Università degli Studi di Venezia (Cà Foscari). She is the editor of an extensive series of American classics for Marsilio, and her publications include the monographs Una strada nel bosco: Scrittura e coscienza in Djuna Barnes (1979), Verso il West: L'autobiografia dei pionieri americani (1983), and Fictions of the Past: Hawthorne and Melville (1992), as well as numerous essays on British and American literature, most recently on Nabokov’s Lolita (2003), “Henry James and the Evolution of the American Snob” (2010), and John Hersey’s A Bell for Adano (2012).
