NYUAD is a partner campus of NYUNY and consists of a highly selective liberal arts college and a world-class institute for advanced research, scholarship, and creative work. In the future, distinctive graduate programs will be implemented.

NYUNY and NYUAD are integrally connected and together form the foundation of a unique Global Network University, actively linked as well to NYU's study and research sites on five continents. NYU Abu Dhabi’s public programs began in fall 2008 and the first class of students arrived in fall 2010.

The recruitment of faculty is led by “Coordinating Groups” that correspond to the disciplinary areas of the NYU Abu Dhabi curriculum.
