NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU's Washington Square campus in New York City form the backbone of a fully interconnected Global Network University. As one of its two portal campuses, NYU Abu Dhabi establishes a powerful environment for faculty and students to access NYU's exceptional liberal arts curriculum, dynamic learning and mentoring experiences with award-winning faculty, and ongoing interaction with the intellectual and cultural life of the local communities made accessible through NYU's network of Gglobal Academic Centers.

NYU Abu Dhabi students may study for two or more semesters at NYU global network sites in Berlin, Buenos Aires, Florence, Accra, London, Madrid, New York, Paris, Prague, Shanghai, and Tel Aviv. They may also spend one or more Winter Sessions (three-week sessions in January) traveling with faculty for site-specific research or projects away and can also experience the diverse places and people of the broader Middle East through regional study trips (ranging from weekend excursions to 10-day trips) led by faculty and local experts.

Imagine visiting the red sand dunes, Hili tombs, and date plantations of Al-Ain; the rugged Hajar mountains in Ras al Khaimah; the fossil valley and natural pools of Hatta; and the 160 species of animals and beautiful beaches of Sir Bani Yas Island.

Some trips complement courses with on-site exploration and fieldwork; other travel enriches the core curriculum and signature programs that are open to all students. Possibilities include:

New York University, one of the foremost private, global research institutions in the United States, is primarily located in the heart of downtown Manhattan. Beyond NYU's portal campus in New York City lies a whole world of NYU global opportunity. With NYU Abu Dhabi, a new portal campus scheduled to open in 2010, and 10 international academic centers in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, NYU offers global experiences to all members of its community.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi
NYUAD and NYU in New York form the backbone of a fully connected Global Network University. As one of the two major hubs in the Global Network, NYUAD creates a unique capacity for faculty and students to access the assets of the entire university system. NYU Abu Dhabi's Downtown Academic Campus will open in October 2009. Located a block from the Corniche, the Cultural Center, and Al Hosn Fort in the center of Abu Dhabi, it will house nearly all of NYUAD's academic activities while the Saadiyat Island campus is under development.

London

London
NYU in London is located in Bloomsbury, around the corner from the British Museum, in the heart of the city's university district. It is an ideal place to engage with the history and intellectual life of this great multicultural capital. More than sixty courses are offered, ranging across the liberal arts and social sciences, but also including mathematics, natural science and business. A special arrangement with the University of London allows NYU and UL students to take courses together.

Paris

Paris
At NYU in Paris students immerse themselves in the daily life of this vibrant city while taking courses in French language, history, culture and society. Students in the Francophone program supplement their studies with courses at the University of Paris. Students select courses from a wide variety of subjects taught in English or French by a superb faculty.

Madrid

Madrid
For more than 50 years NYU students have been immersing themselves in the intensive study of Spanish language and culture at our academic center in Madrid. One of the premiere study programs in Spain, the NYU in Madrid curriculum is characterized by its variety and flexibility, allowing students from many majors to craft programs that meet their intellectual interests and academic needs. Course offerings span the disciplines and explore the many facets of Spain's history that connect it to Europe, Latin America, Islam, North Africa, and the Mediterranean.

Berlin

Berlin
At NYU in Berlin students experience a cosmopolitan city that holds a complex and crucial place in modern European history. Early 20th-century Berlin was a key source of the European cultural avant-garde. Early 21st-century Berlin has reemerged as the dynamic center of a new, multicultural Europe. In the intervening century the city suffered the devastation of World War II and the bitter winds of the Cold War. Students explore this fascinating renewal and reunification from many angles — politics and history, sociology, philosophy, architecture and art.

Prague

Prague
At NYU in Prague students come to understand what it means for a country to completely reposition itself on the global stage in the space of twenty years. Courses explore the cultural and political transition from authoritarian rule to democracy; some are taught by the very architects of that transition. Other courses cover the broad sweep of Czech history and culture: its legacy as a medieval power center, its role in European modernism, its rich heritage of art, music and literature. Internship and volunteer opportunities abound.

Florence

Florence
Housed in Renaissance villas on a stunning hilltop estate, NYU in Florence offers students unique perspectives from which to explore this beautiful city, capital of Tuscany and home to some of the world's greatest treasures of art and architecture. Faculty experts in ancient, medieval and Renaissance art, literature and history teach side by side with scholars and public intellectuals of modern Europe. Students may do their coursework in Italian or study in English while learning Italian language.

Tel Aviv
NYU in Tel Aviv is for students who are motivated to understand the complexity of our world. The program embraces journalism, politics, social sciences, media, and pre-law, explored within the intricate framework of the Middle East. At the same time, students in the sciences and business are exposed to the technological innovation and entrepreneurship that mark this dynamic city.
