Name & Date of Birth, U.S. Social Security Number, and Finding your high school code

  • Name & Date of Birth:
Entering your name and date of birth correctly is very important! Please pay attention to the order of how you enter this information, as well as using your full legal name as it appears on your passport. If this information is entered incorrectly on your application, it will be difficult to change later.
  • U.S. Social Security Number:
In the "Applicant" section, a U.S. social security number is only required for U.S. citizens. Others may leave the field blank.
  • Finding your high school code:
In the "Education" section, there is a search option to help you find your school's CEEB code, if there is one. If you type in the name of your city and country and still cannot find your high school, then there is a "Not Found" option at the bottom of the page that you may choose. The "Not Found" code is 0000.

Complete the New York University Supplement

  • Complete the New York University Supplement:
On Question 3 of the supplement, indicate "New York University Abu Dhabi" as the primary choice for the portal campus. You may also check the box to be considered for admission to NYU's campus in New York as your alternate campus.
  • If your primary choice is NYU Abu Dhabi and you do not wish to be considered for NYU New York, you may skip Questions 4-8. Selecting a program of interest and anticipated area of study is not required for NYU Abu Dhabi applicants.
  • Students who wish to be considered for both NYU Abu Dhabi AND NYU New York should fill in Questions 4 and 5 (required for NYU New York) and 6-8, if applicable. Once a primary college of interest (for New York only) is selected in Question 4, a list of areas of study within that college will become available in Question 5. For example, if you select the College of Arts and Science in Question 4, you will see a list of majors/fields of study available to students within the College of Arts and Science in Question 5.

Teacher Evaluation, Secondary School Report, and Submitting your high school transcripts

  • Teacher Evaluation & Secondary School Report:
After filling out the Release Authorization, you will be able to enter the names of your teacher and counselor whom you have chosen to write recommendations for you. Don't wait until the end to do this section — be sure to give your teachers enough time to complete the forms! If you enter an email address for each of them, they will be sent a message inviting them to either fill out the recommendation forms online, or submit them as a hard copy by mail. You, the student, should follow up with your teacher and counselor as well.

Alternatively, you may print out the Teacher Evaluation form and Secondary School Report form from the Common Application website, fill in the top (student) section, and give it to your teacher/counselor to complete.

  • Submitting your high school transcripts:
Request that your school submits an official, sealed copy of your transcripts from grade nine up through the most recent marks you have received at the time of applying. You do NOT need to submit your final grade 12 results while applying, as most students will not have those yet. It is helpful for the school to submit a school profile along with the transcripts.
