As a specialist in Ethnomusicology, Martin Daughtry studies the intersection of music, literature, and politics. He is particularly interested in the transformation of musical traditions in the wake of cataclysmic events, which he recently explored in the edition he co-edited on music in the post-9/11 world. He is currently at work on the ethnography of musical listening practices in conflict zones, with a focus on Baghdad.
