Located in the center of downtown Abu Dhabi within walking distance of the NYUAD campus, Sama Tower stands 50 stories tall and has an easily recognizable exterior thanks to its horizontal stripes of silver paneling and glass. As the residential heart of NYUAD, students — as well as many of the University's faculty and staff — call it home.
In addition to nine single-gender student floors, each offering studio and two-bedroom dorms, Sama Tower houses NYUAD's administrative offices and Health and Wellness Center, as well as a fitness center, performance spaces, classrooms, lounges, art studios, study/meeting rooms, and music practice rooms — a variety of spaces in which students can explore their interests, exercise their bodies and minds, hone their skills, or just simply relax.
Designed as a social space for students, the NYUAD Campus Lounge is equipped with five gaming stations — complete with Microsoft Xboxes, Sony PS3s, a Nintendo Wii, and beanbag seating — as well as pool, ping pong, foosball, and air hockey tables, and several computer stations. In addition, students have access to a Blu-ray Disc player and a 5-disc CD changer. Both can be hooked up to the room's audio/visual components, which consist of a sound system and two large flat-screen monitors.
The largest multipurpose room in Sama Tower, Common Ground is ideal for panel discussions, poetry readings, musical performances, movie screenings, theater practices, presentations, or student get-togethers. Its audio/visual system allows for the use of microphones, a projector, and a Blu-ray Disc player.
Study and Conference Rooms
There are a number of rooms designated for student use, either individually, with a group, or in multiple small groups. These rooms are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sama Tower has several multipurpose rooms available upon request for study/review sessions, presentations, meetings of University clubs and organizations, film screenings, or other activities involving small- and medium-sized groups. Each space is well equipped with writable wall surfaces and an audio/visual system that includes a Blu-ray Disc player, either a projector or a large flat-screen monitor, and an iPod docking station.
Sama Tower has five dedicated music rooms that can be booked for individual or group practice. A variety of equipment is also available.
Sama Technology Center
